13 ways to get your kids looking like the fabulous stars that they are
There are lots of back to school kids’ clothing trends that we’re really liking this year, but one of them: the return of the star. The classic five-point star is showing up everywhere from the mass stores to the hottest kids’ brands, looking more celestial than cowboy. Here, just a few favorites to get your kids looking galactic-cool from top to bottom. They’re not just for birthday crowns anymore! –Liz

Reese Shoes and Patience Sky Shoes
Stars and moons couldn’t be a cuter combo on little feet. They come in toddler sizes 3-9 and youth sizes too. ($48, $56, See Kai Run)

Star Print Cardigan
It comes in a few colors, but this golden yellow adds a nice pop of color in the cooler months. Be aware they run a little big. ($29, Zara)

Star Dress (in collage at top) and Star Print Leggings
When I discovered Nununu this spring I fell in love. Adorable, so well made, in prints that seem to be made with the help of a lot of cute kids. (£26, Skin & Bliss UK; $44, Estella NYC)

Liberty of London Star Headband
The hair accessories from Adelaide are one of my favorite new finds, and the subtle headband (or ponytail holder) make her feel like the star she is. ($26, Adelaide NYC)

Girls’ Striped Sweater Dress
Love the accent of stars on the elbows, where patches might be. ($19.98 on sale, Gap)

Bensimon Star Sneakers
Oh, like our kids would ever take these off. ($40, Tea Collection)

Foil Stamped Star Tee
Love these well-made pima cotton star tees, with fancy foil printing. It’s pretty cool in coral too or a subtle silver on white. ($52, Chalk NYC)

Boys’ Star Boxer Shorts
Gah, so cute. Even if hardly anyone sees them. ($12.90/2, Zara)

Star Baby Bodysuit
Another favorite brand for babies and kids, if a little splurgey, is Shirin NYC which makes the softest handprinted bodysuits, dresses and tees. Every one is a little different too. ($23 on sale at Arte Bebe)

Robeez Star Shoes
Babies get in on the action too with these cute booties for boys or girls. ($25, Zappos)

Baby Star Leggings In sizes 6mo-4T the sale price of these foil stamped leggings is amazing. Grab them while you can. ($5 on sale, Children’s Place)
I never thought twice about diapering my son with the eco-not-so-conscious disposable diaper. I have to admit, I thought that cloth diapers were still big cotton towels that required safety pins, manual dexterity, and a whole lot of free time.
Don’t get any sick ideas, dear readers. We’ve all seen our share of those softies and we certainly don’t need a stuffed one of THOSE laying around the house.
When my 3 year old was a newborn we planned a trip to Europe and before I could say auf viedersehn, my brain pictured all the filthy traveling potties we would encounter while changing her diaper.
